Job Description
FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF CORTEZ COMMUNICATIONS/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of Position: The purpose of this position is to maintain a business-like background for assisting the staff with the paper work required for a smooth functioning daily operation.

Responsibilities:
• Answer telephone and direct calls as needed.
• Maintain the official calendar of the church, scheduling all use of the facilities; preparing and explaining all necessary forms and get them signed. Get proof of insurance if necessary.
• Make a daily trip to the post office for delivery and pickup of mail. Sort and distribute all mail as addressed.
• Order supplies for all of the ministries.
• Apply, maintain and record data for grants.
• Keep track of all Administration budget line items.
• Prepare and distribute weekly PowerPoint, bulletins and announcements inserts.
• Maintain all church membership records.
• Track weekly attendance statistics.
• Prepare annual church reports for the Conference office, and Charge Conference.
• Send out requests and communicate with the church members, and groups within the church, via e-mail.
• Maintain a filing system within the church office, so that all church records can be accessed by the staff and members as needed.
• Update social media accounts on a regular basis: Facebook; Instagram; YouTube
• Update website with new information as needed
• Create/design mailers and flyers using church printer or local printers
• Shoot photos of FUMC events for website, social media and advertising applications
• Maintain username/password for website and social media accounts
• Support pastor and leadership team with ongoing communications such as special events and new programs
Skill Set:
• Must be proficient in computer technology and use of Microsoft tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Familiar with Wix website platform or compatible platforms
• Must have previous experience navigating and using social media apps for communications/advertising purposes
• Willing to learn and experiment with new technology
• Experienced in photography
Accountability: Is directly accountable to the Staff Parish Relations Committee and the Pastor for the satisfactory fulfillment of all functions and responsibilities. Is directly accountable to the Pastor for daily operations.
